The younger brother of Bangli Regent, Nengah Arnawa, Nyoman Susrama, was took into jail for detailed investigation by Bali police at journalist's murder case. Journalists and lawyers gathered to request Bali Police to continue investigating thoroughly the murder of a local journalist. The journalist, Anak Agung Gede Bagus Narendra Prabangsa, was found dead more than three months ago in the waters off southern Bali. Chariman of the Bali branch of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), Bambang Wiyono, said he was grateful to the Bali Police for revealing nine suspects in the case so far. Seven suspects were announced last day, while two additional suspects were named later. The two additional suspects - I Wayan Suecita, also known as Maong, a daily worker at the Bangli Education Agency, and Gus Oblong - were arrested. Both are allegedly involved in throwing the body into the sea from Padang Bai Beach. "However, considering the arrested suspects are not all directly related to motive of the crime "Prabangsa's articles uncovered alleged corruption at the Bangli Education Agency", we believe there is another possible mastermind behind this case," said Bambang, adding his independent team would continue to thoroughly investigate the case. The seven suspects include the alleged mastermind: I Nyoman Susrama, a project officer at the Bangli Education Agency, I Nyoman Rencana, and I Komang Gede Wardana, also known as Mangde, suspected of murdering the journalist; Komang Gede, suspected of picking up the victim prior to the murder, Dewa Sumbawa, Susrama's driver, and SITA water company employees Endy and Jampes, who lived at the house where the murder allegedly took place. Prabangsa was a regional desk editor at the local newspaper Radar Bali, part of the Jawa Pos Group. Commenting on the progress, Radar Bali director Justin Herman said, "Our dear friend Prabangsa was murdered in a cruel and intolerable way. Therefore, this "case" must be fully solved. "However, we must be aware of possible "negotiations" between opposing parties during the future trial." Elsewhere, head of the Bangli General Elections Commission (KPUD) I Dewa Aging Lidartawan said one of the suspects, Susrama, would still retain his seat at the Bangli Regency Legislative Council. Susrama won the seat using the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) ticket and will be officiated in August. "We must uphold the presumption of innocence principle," said Lidartawan. "If there is no conclusive verdict convicting him "Susrama", we will consider him an elected councilor with the right to a seat "at the council". "Susrama, who is the younger brother of Bangli Regent I Nengah Arnawa, gained the top spot at the council with 4,800 votes during the April 9 legislative elections in the Bangli I electoral district. Chairman of the Bali branch of the PDI-P, Anak Agung Oka Ratmadi, expressed his deep concern toward his party's elected councilor who was allegedly involved in the murder of the journalist. Arnawa said his family had relinquished the case of his brother Susrama to the police. "This 'the case' is beyond all our expectations. However, we will support the police in settling the case," he said. He promised he would provide any explanations requested by the police should he be summoned.
