Bali Governor: Stop Construction of Hotels and Sleep on Beach Please!


Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika plans to suspend construction of hotels in Bali. The reason, building the hotel rooms and villas that used to meet the needs of tourism in Bali has exceeded capacity.

Based on data from the PHRI (Hotel and Restaurant Association of Indonesia) in 2009, the number of hotel rooms in Bali that was officially recorded as many as 46 014 units. However, PHRI estimate the number of hotel rooms and villas are illegal reaches 17 thousand. The growth of hotel rooms and villas in Bali every year for an average of two thousand rooms.
