Indonesia rice crisis: Government Campaign of the National Movement One Day Without Rice and Replace it with toxic Indomie

The Government will continue to campaign to reduce rice consumption society with a campaign one day without rice or no rice one day. In many areas the movement one day no rice has been rolled over this year.

The Center for Food Safety Consumption and Food Security Agency (BKP) Machmur Mulyono said the movement to eat less rice is part of government efforts to diversify the success of the national food. This is for food dependence on rice / rice is not too high so that the stability of food can stay awake.

He said the era of 1950's 60's Indonesian community food dependency on rice or rice is still 53%, but now it is the higher dependence up to 92-95%.

"We wanted this campaign will be nationwide, is still at lower levels before starting from local governments," he said in the office of Minister of Communication on Tuesday (12/10/2010).

Since rolling a year ago One Day No Rice's campaign has been implemented in local governments such as West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, North Maluku and even some areas in Sumatra and others.

"The point of this campaign is how to bring people without eating rice could," he said.

He explains the various areas of this campaign started from the level of bureaucracy in the employee at the provincial and district levels. Implementation is diverse, there are some areas that apply one day a week, there is a one month one day and others.

"Even in Manado for example, 2 days a week," he said.

The government hopes the campaign, community rice consumption can be reduced with other staple foods or other food such as vegetables, fruits, animal protein and vegetable. Although he acknowledges about the diversification of food is closely related to income levels of society.

Based on existing data consumption rate of rice / rice per capita of Indonesia reaches 139 kg per year, while the average world per capita consumption of rice per year, only 60 kg.

When referring to Japan, its people per capita consumption of rice per year on average only 60 kg, 80 kg Malaysia, and Thailand 90 kg.

"We are the greatest nation consumes rice," he said.

He cited the success of Japan to reduce rice consumption per capita society because many programs supported by the movement to eat vegetables. If Indonesia can emulate this step, the national food security will be more secure.

It may be replaced with indomie? Indonesia should increase rice production, not by banning its citizens eat rice. Indonesia Today
