To Facing Malaysia, Yudhoyono Want to Have Many Fighter


Although war is a last solution, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said, as a great nation, Indonesia should have a strong and credible force.

"We need an adequate military force, with a tough posture. It takes a trained soldier with the power of modern weaponry," the president said in his speech on Memorial Day TNI 65th at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Platform, Tuesday, October 5, 2010.

In addition, it is also necessary force development and modernization of armament or Alutsista (main tool weapon system), the TNI, in a sustainable manner, both the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

"We want the coming years more and more fighters are airborne over the territory of Indonesia. We want more and more fleet of warships guarding the sovereignty of our seas stretching from Aceh to Papua."

"And we also want more ground combat units are well trained and professional, and ready to be deployed anywhere and at anytime, to carry out the tasks of the state."

Delivered Yudhoyono, the Government with the support of parliament, has agreed to allocate a larger budget for the defense sector, without ignoring and sacrificing the interests to continue to improve the welfare of our people.

"I am instructing the leaders in the ranks of the Ministry of Defence and military ranks, to develop a strategic plan for the development of our defense forces, in line with economic growth and increase the state budget, with a frame time (time line) is accelerated as well, with the right target, too."
