Ainun Habibie's Body to Arrive in Indonesia Tuesday Morning

Ainun Habibie's remains are due to arrive
in Jakarta on Tuesday morning at 5am

The body of former First Lady  Hasri Ainun Habibie is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Tuesday at 5 a.m.

Soon after arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma airport, Ainun’s remains will be brought straight to the house of mourning on Jl. Patra Kuningan XIII,  said Adrie Subono on behalf of the BJ Habibie family.

Adrie said the body will be laid in state at the house of mourning at 10 am prior to burial at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery at 11 am.

In the meantime, prayers have been organized at the house of mourning for 24 hours since Sunday (May 23), attended by friends and relatives of former Indonesian President BJ Habibie’s extended family.

At the house of mourning, workers are preparing
chairs for government officials and other guests. A large tent several meters long has been erected along Jl. Patra Kuningan XIII.

Wreaths from Vice President Boediono and family, House Speaker Marzuki Alie, and Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik are laid among others along the roadside of the house of mourning.
The bereaved family has asked the public not to send wreaths of flowers, but rather donations for the Orbit Student Foundation and the Eye Foundation.

Ainun Habibie passed away at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat, Klinikum Gro`hadern in Munich, Germany at 5.30 pm German time (11.30 Jakarta time) at the age of 73.

She and BJ Habibie tied the knot on May 12, 1962, and they have two children, Ilham Akbar and Thareq Kemal.
