A Singapore man has been jailed for just 10 months after he was convicted of sexually assaulting his Indonesian maid and threatening to kill her.
The Straits Times reported that Gerry Chan Cheow Kwang, 45, had admitted to a forcing the woman, 25, to “masturbate him, touching her private parts and sucking her breasts at his condominium unit in Woodlands on Aug 1, 2008.”
The paper reported that the sustained assault began after Chan, a project manager, asked for a massage.
“While she was massaging him, he pulled her towards him, lifted her T-shirt and brassiere, exposing her breasts. He then squeezed and sucked her breasts. When he tried to remove her shorts, she struggled and he molested her.”
The paper reported that Chan, a married father of three, threatened to kill the woman if she did not do as she was told.
Chan, who was also sentenced to three strokes of the cane, could have been jailed for three years.
The report did not say why the man had been given such a light sentence.
