Indonesia is eyeing to become the world`s Muslim fashion barometer in 2020 like France and Italy for general fashion.
"We hope when people recall Indonesia they will member its Muslim fashion," the Deputy for Trade and Industry Coordination of the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Edy Putra Irawadi, said at the launching "Indonesia Towards World Muslim Fashion Barometer" here on Friday.

The event was marked by an Indonesia Islamic Fashion Fair 2010 presenting 31 noted Muslim fashion designers such as Shafira, Anne Rufaidah and Dian Pelangi.
Edy said "by being an Islamic fashion barometer we hope more visitors will come and Indonesia`s good values will be known through its fashion products."
To support the idea the ofice of the coordinating minister for economic affairs, the culture and tourism ministry, the ministry of industry, associations and other private sectors had initiated the establishment of an Indonesia Islamic Fashion Consortium.
Edy believed Indonesia`s fashion products could compete in the midst of the current global free-trade era.
"Our capital is huge to meet the free-trade era such as huge consumers, creative human resources and our products always have a particular added value," he said.
He said Indonesia`s Muslim fashion products always have strong character because of the country`s rich natural resources unlike other mass production products.
"As of now we will conduct promotion, improve the quality of products and increase production," he said.
He said Indonesia has an opportunity to become a fashion hub as it has so far been known for its bridal and weaving products.
An expert staff member for multiculturalism of the office of the minister of culture and tourism, Sri Rahayu, said by becoming a Muslim fashion barometer it was hoped more foreign tourists would come to the country.
"We hope more tourists from neighbouring Muslim countries would come here," she said.
