The fluctuation of rice prices in domestic markets that occurred lately have been slowly putting Indonesia's rice price from the highest rice-producing countries of the world such as Vietnam and Thailand.
Though the year 2009 and the third world rice prices fluctuate precisely in the domestic rice price is very stable unaffected price volatility.
President Director of PT Alam Makmur Sembada Ayong Suherman Dinata which is one of the biggest rice traders, said Indonesia's rice price for this type of medium is 50-60% higher than the Vietnamese and Thai rice prices.
"The price of Vietnamese rice is U.S. $ 380 per metric ton when we get in Indonesia is only Rp 4,000 per kg, rice prices here are USD 6000-7000 per kg," said Ayong.
Ayong said Indonesia's rice price trend over the position of world rice prices have started happening since two months ago. She also could not be sure how long in domestic prices of rice remained high.
"The reason for unfriendly weather, the harvest back, not enough sun, the more mengganas pests, production down, yes the price rises," he said.
So he said the increase in domestic prices of rice today is inseparable from the demand and supply factors. Allegation of market games, especially the traders, he said it was not true.
"We are the highest compared with rice-producing countries of the world, excluding Japan (premium)," he said.
