President Barack Obama said he was going to Indonesia in November, fulfilling a promise that has been delayed twice to visit the country that had become his home when a child.
In a speech before the UN General Assembly this Thursday, Obama said he would pay a visit Indonesia following a scheduled visit to India.
In the same way, President Obama will attend G-20 summit in South Korea, and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Japan.
Obama has long planned visit to the country with the world's largest Muslim population, which was scheduled for May and then June this year. The trip was delayed, first because the pressure to pass health care legislation in the U.S. Congress, and then because of the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Indonesian government has never expressed complaints over two times the delay of Obama's visit. However, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced that he will not attend the meeting between President Obama and ASEAN leaders in New York which will be conducted tomorrow on Friday, September 24th.
