1000 Nameless Island in Riau are ready to Claimed by Malaysia and Singapore


Intiatives Regional Institute for Governance, Human Rights and Social Justice (Rights) ASEAN noted there are currently around 1,000 islands in Riau Islands, which do not yet have a name. Most of the island was no man's land and territories considered to potentially cause conflict between Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.

"The islands were directly adjacent to Johor (Malaysia), Singapore and the Riau Islands," said Regional Director ASEAN Rights, Ellena Florence Manambe in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, October 12, 2010.

According to Ellena 1000 island entirely in Indonesia. Riau Islands is a local government authority to name these islands according to Law no. 32 of 2004 on Regional Autonomy.

Pemda Riau Islands are encouraged to do so immediately so that the islands were soon to have an identity. If not, go Ellena, there are three problems that would arise - a matter of economics, law, and humanitarian conflicts.
