Indonesia's Longest Bridge Open Today!

"Suramadu - when in progress"

Suramadu, the longest bridge ever build on Indonesia (54 km) that laid on Madura strait that connecting two island, java island and madura island were officially open today. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will open this bridge. The name of Suramadu formed from word Surabaya and Madura that has been cut like this: SURA[baya]MADU[ra]. This bridge develop with the loan from China and has been on rapid developed in 3 years until done this years. With this bridge the distance of Surabaya City at Java island and Madura island can reach only in 15 minutes. This bridge have 8 rows, 4 rows for cars, 2 for motorcycle and the others 2 for emergency cases. Many people happy with this bridge except fisherman, they afraid that their fish will gone away because of this bridge. Some situation feel by small merchant on Ujung quay at Surabaya and Kamal quay at Madura, they afraid that this will make the boarder that use ferry to travel from Surabaya to Madura quay and the opposite way will drop and make their chance to sell goods to that boarder drop too.
