A “short and bespectacled” Indonesian domestic worker appeared in a Singaporean court on Wednesday charged with allegedly having sex with her employer’s 12-year-old son on multiple occasions.
The Straits Times reported that the boy allegedly engaged in consensual intercourse and oral sex with the domestic helper.
The woman, who cannot be identified to protect the victim, reportedly faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail and fines for each of three charges that she had sex with a minor under the age of 16.
She is expected to make a second appearance in court on May 19.
Two years ago, a similar case took place in Hong Kong. A 45-year-old Indonesian domestic worker admitted to having sex with her Hong Kong employer’s 14-year-old son after watching Internet pornography together.
The South China Morning Post reported that Suwartin, a divorcee and mother of two, had sex with the boy in a relationship that lasted five months.
The relationship was revealed after the boy told the leader of a Christian group he belonged to.
Suwartin, who had worked with the boy’s extended family for 11 years, pleaded guilty to five charges of committing an indecent act with an under-age partner.
“She had acted out of loneliness,” the paper quoted Suwartin’s lawyer as saying.
