Axton, The Successor of the Kingdom of the Salim Group Business


Today, Thursday, October 7, 2010, Indofood will register its subsidiary, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur CBP as a newcomer to the stock market.

In the registration, all the directors who presided Indofood Anthoni Salim attended the listing its shares on the stock exchanges of Indonesia, Jakarta.

He is Axton Salim. He is not what people at random. He is the son Anthoni Salim, the grandson of the founder or the Salim Group, Soedono Salim, known as the tycoon's most respected in the Soeharto era.

Occupying the position of Director since 2009, Axton is the youngest director of the nine member board of directors of Indofood. In addition to being Director of Indofood, Axton also served as Director of Indofood Sukses Makmur CBP who had just entered the capital market.

As one grandchild Soedono Salim, Axton was widely referred to as a potential heir to the throne of the Salim Group business empire.

As a prospective successor to the Salim Group business, Axton seems to have prepared thoroughly. Just as the average of other Indonesian tycoon's son, before joining the company of his parents, they had schooled abroad. Axton earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, USA.

Next Gemblengan is working first at financial institutions or banks overseas investment. Likewise with Axton, he started his career at Credit Suisse Singapore in the investment banking division.

Only in 2004, he joined as Marketing Manager of PT Indofood Indofood Fritolay Makmur. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to executive position as assistant CEO of Indofood.

Operationally, as noted in the financial statements Indofood, Axton heads the dairy division (Indolakto), a new segment in CBP Indofood group. Indolakto is a leading dairy company number two in Indonesia, after Nestle.

Indofood company was acquired in 2008 of Drayton Pte Ltd which has a 68.57 percent stake. Formerly known as the Indomilk, milk producers, yogurth and ice cream.

Axton also led the central marketing Indofood. He was instrumental in strengthening marketing strategies, including intensified product marketing development programs to rural areas, and developing product innovations.

Another position disandangkan is a non-executive director of Indofood Agri Resources Ltd., Komisatis PT Salim Ivomas Pratt and PT London Sumatra Plantations Indonesia Tbk, and the Director of Indolakto and Pacsari Pte Ltd.

Indofood CBP is a new division of the expansion of business activities of instant noodles and cooking. It is a subsidiary that specializes to handle the Branded Consumer Products. All of the subsidiary that produces various food products in packaging are combined in this new subsidiary, which includes instant noodles, food seasonings, snack foods and nutrition and special food.
