Indonesia produced its own fighter aircraft


The Defense Ministry said Indonesia is ready to conduct cooperation with the production of fighter aircraft in South Korea. It was declared Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro and South Korean Defense Minister Kim Tae-Young after a bilateral meeting in Jakarta.

Purnomo said the joint project in the making KFX fighter aircraft will begin in 2012. Hopefully, he said, the projects the two countries could produce a prototype aircraft in 2020. "We hope Indonesia could become the production base," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Defense Secretary Samsoeddin Sjafrie said Indonesia would also ask the right sales of aircraft in production later. Sjafrie said in a declaration of strategic partnership between Indonesia and South Korea in 2006 set a special called about making the plane.
