Although Taiwan declare Indomie contain hazardous materials, Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) ensure that Indonesian-made products are safe for consumption.
"We assure you (Indomie) safe. It's okay," said Chief BPOM, Kustantinah, Monday (10/11/2010).
Officer Department of Health and Food Taiwan circulation Indomie interesting because they contain preservatives (nipagin) hydroxy methyl benzoate in oil and preservative benzoic acid in the marinade.
Kustantinah explain BPOM have rules governing food additives allowed in food with no maximum limit its use. BPOM refer to the Regulation of the Minister of Health the number 722 in 1988, one of which regulate issues of food tambakan.
According to him, BPOM has conducted monitoring and testing of preservatives nipagin that is in the Indomie.
"What is used as a preservative, is in the 250 mg per kg of soy products. Testing and monitoring we are not more of it. So it's okay," he said.
BPOM also will not make raids against Indomie product. Indonesia based on international standards such as among others in Canada, Singapore, and Brunei.
"If there are other countries so that policy does not allow the country concerned. We're not going to do the raid. Still safe, sampling testing soy no one exceeds the limit," said Kustantinah. Indonesia Today
