Greenpeace ship, Rainbow Warrior, will Relying on the Port of Tanjung Priok


Motor ship Rainbow Warrior, owned by an international environmental organization Greenpeace will be back in Port of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Wednesday (13/10). The arrival of the legendary ship is due to the presence of 10-year anniversary of Greenpeace in Southeast Asia.

"The arrival of the Rainbow Warrior to promote climate change solutions by bringing clean renewable energy in Indonesia," said Bustar Maitar, campaigner of Greenpeace Southeast Asia in Jakarta, Monday (11/10).

Visits of this ship is also to commemorate the presence of Greenpeace in Indonesia which is now entering its fifth year. While in Jakarta, Greenpeace activists are planning to hold an interactive dialogue to discuss a moratorium (suspension), which are already committed President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia's forests. "We will encourage the Indonesian government to take real action to combat climate change," said Bustar.

From Jakarta, the plan moves toward the waters of the Rainbow Warrior Cirebon to hold a similar action. However, it is not certain how long the ship will be in Indonesian waters.

The second ship Rainbow Warrior was Greenpeace, which was launched on July 10, 1989 after the original ship that sank in 1985 due bombed by French secret agents for trying to oppose the country's nuclear testing in Pacific waters. On the way to campaign on climate change, the Rainbow Warrior deck has climbed the world famous figures of the religious leaders, royal family, and musicians. Indonesia Today
