Public transport system in Indonesia is still unorganized, Premium Restrictions Only Dreams

Commission VII DPR rate restriction policy of subsidized fuel consumption would be difficult to implement during the public transportation system in the country is still unorganized.

"We reject the policy was before the government does not improve public transportation systems and services," said Vice Chairman of Commission VII of DPR, Effendi Simbolon, Tuesday (10/12/2010).

Effendi argues, efforts to limit government subsidized fuel will be wasted if the public transport system is not repaired. In fact the root cause of the spike in consumption of subsidized fuel in Indonesia, one of which is semerawutnya public transportation in Indonesia.

"People were not wearing motorcycle because our public transportation system is a mess. And the consumption of subsidized fuel most consumed by the motor. So I think all our public transport system is not repaired, then the restriction of consumption would be difficult to implement," he explained.

In the early stages, continued Effendi, improved public transport system should be conducted in major cities. "After that repair, the new restrictions could be applied to subsidized fuel," he added.

In contrast to Effendi, a member of Commission VII of the other M. Faith Sohibul support restrictions on the consumption of subsidized fuel plan that will be applied to the government starting early next year.

"That's wonderful that the community is more efficient and not wasteful in the use of subsidized fuel," he said.

However, he asked the government to formulate careful planning prior to this policy is applied. "Technical should be discussed. Do not get when it decides to implement, but rather difficult to implement in the field," he explained.

He also expects the government to improve public transport system to support the policy. "So while limited, also improved its transport system," he added. Indonesia Today
