Singer Aura Kasih's Makassar Troubles Continue

Former beauty star-cum-singer Aura Kasih is expected to face another round of questioning by police in Makassar, South Sulawesi, for alleged fraud and breach of contract.

Adjutant Comr. Fajaruddin told Metro TV on Tuesday that there were a number of areas that first needed clarifying before Aura would be asked to appear on Thursday.

Fajaruddin, Makassar Police’s chief detective, said that during Aura’s first round of questioning two weeks ago, she had been very cooperative with investigators and answered every question in detail.

Debindo Mega Promo, an event organizer in Makassar, laid charges against the singer after she failed to turn up as expected at an event in January.

Aura had since returned the Rp 46 million ($5,000) fee Debindo paid, but have insisted on suing for Rp 2.3 billion given what they allege has been the damage suffered to their reputations.

Aura reportedly told them she did not have the money but would pay them in installments.

A year after finishing as a finalist in the Miss Indonesia pageant in 2007, Aura rose to stardom with her disco album “Malaikat Penggoda” (“The Angel of Seduction”).

Her hit single “Mari Bercinta” (“Let’s Make Love”) topped the radio charts but the video clip was banned by national televisions because it was considered too racy.

In 2009, Aura starred in the romantic comedy “Asmara Dua Diana” (“The Love of Two Dianas.”)
