Yudhoyono: West Papuan Autonomy Fund IDR4 T Must Watched


Four ministers and two deputy ministers to visit Papua since Wednesday, September 29, 2010 yesterday. Accompanied by staff of the Special Presidential Division of Regional Development and Local Autonomy, Velix Wanggai, they evaluate the development in the easternmost province of Indonesia.

According to the Special Staff of the President, Velix Wanggai, President Yudhoyono wants to know the real conditions of development and also evaluate the development of Papua's special autonomy which has been running since 2001. In essence, the extent to which great powers to Papua and the budget allocation to Papua high enough to raise living standards for people of Papua.

To improve the development, said Velix Wanggai, President Yudhoyono would establish an intensive communication with local government, the Papuan People's Representative Council, and the Papuan People's Assembly. It is intended to map the constraints in accelerating development in Papua.

According Velix, the President wanted to set Papua both in terms of regulatory framework and budget framework. With the special autonomy fund allocation large enough in the year 2010, approximately Rp 4 trillion, the President wanted a clear strategy and measurable in development programs, and the need to supervise the use of such funds.
