Director-General of Small and Medium Industry of Department of Industry, Fauzi Aziz, said the efforts of the Government and Indonesian batik community to get world acknowledgement on batik as Indonesian cultural heritage are expected to be achieved soon. Batik is one of intellectual properties of Indonesian cultural heritage, and the Indonesian Government, supported by batik community, has proposed it to the UNESCO. The process is on progress and has come to the final result before the committee meeting on September 2009 or October 2009 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Two third members of the UNESCO, among others are Nigeria, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, has recommended batik as Indonesian heritage that no country could ever claim batik. The Government of Indonesia is responsible to preserve and protect batik from extinction.
