Golkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie's son Ardie Bakrie tied the knot with actress Nia Ramadhani during a lavish wedding ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday.
The wedding reception — which the rumor mill estimated would have cost Rp 10 billion ($1.1 million) — took place at the Hotel Mulia on Thursday evening.
It was the first night of celebrations that span a total of three nights, ending with a leather puppet performance in Senayan on Saturday.
Here are some of the details:
Ardie married Nia after two years of courtship. Before Nia, he was reportedly dating teenage model and former television soap opera actress Manohara Odelia Pinot;
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was a witness to the marriage vows, which is politically significant given the battle between Aburizal Bakrie and the president;
Nia designed nine dresses for the wedding, saying she did not use creations from famous designers "to save money;"
Ardie gave Nia a Rp 2,015 dowry. He said 2015 came from adding the date (1), month (4) and year (2010) of their wedding;
Their wedding bands were solid gold with stains of their blood. She said, “I don't want any diamonds on my wedding band. I'd rather have my husband's blood's in it to symbolize our lives together;”
The newly weds are heading to South Africa for their honeymoon. “We want to watch the [Football] World Cup,” Ardie said.
